Hughes 9502 BGAN M2M Terminal

The Hughes M2M terminal is a 3G IP Based Satellite Modem with a Semi Directional antenna.

Technically similar to use as a cellular 3G modem but with complete coverage of the Australian landmass and most of the rest of world too. No dishes required.

The terminal can be used as an always on IP data link, or it can be powered up from sleep mode when needed.

Suitable for connecting data loggers , RTU’s or any device that requires internet access for data retrieval.

Ideal for sites that require up to 1 MByte per day.

The Hughes M2M terminal is a 3G IP Based Satellite Modem with a Semi Directional antenna. This terminal provides a reliable connection over the Inmarsat Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) for  M2M applications.  Often used for connecting loggers,  and automated devices. Always on data link Low power whilst connected and a  sleep mode when needed. The Antenna needs to be facing the satellite within a cone of 15 degrees of the skyscape, though it will operate even if it has been partially moved or blown off its axis. The service is resilient against signal loss due to cloud cover and rain due to the 1.6GHz L Band Frequencies. The exceptional low power consumption (<1 W idle) of the Hughes 9502 makes it possible to provide end-to-end IP connectivity to sites that are off the grid. This breakthrough provides end-to-end IP connectivity to power-challenged locations that rely upon solar- battery arrays involving sensitive power budgets. The Hughes 9502 includes 10 meters of RF cabling, granting the user freedom to position the antenna remotely and away from the transceiver in complex installations while securing the SIM card inside a premise or enclosure to better protect against unauthorized use, theft, and vandalism. Future firmware releases would be uncommon, meanwhile any such modem update will qualify for no charge over-the-air (OTA) upgrades saving customers time and money. As the world’s first BGAN M2M terminal designed to operate on both Inmarsat BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) and cellular 2G/3G/LTE networks, EXPLORER 540 delivers always available connectivity for critical monitoring and control applications.

This is an IP 66 single piece hybrid satellite modem that can with withstand the harsh Australian Outback.
